Review of Independent Media

CIU110: Week 6

The chose of my review of the independent media is the new movie poster Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as seen below. There are many things that make this poster good but there are many that make it bad. Andrew Bridgman said “Today, director James Gunn revealed the new one-sheet for his hotly-anticipated sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And, as expected, it’s trash. Just pure, unadulterated GARBAGE” This is because the poster is to busy/crowded, colours clash and the viewers’ eyes just don’t know where to look.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Poster

With the poster being busy/crowded our eyes can’t look at one thing that is the most dominate nor can they go to the second most dominate subject/object. This can make the viewer not look at it or pay any attention to it when they walk past. The colours are almost everyone under the sun as some of the colour clash together like Yondu’s (far right mid ground) jacket fading into the red ring around the group of characters as well as Nebula’s (head fading into the blue ball of light.

With the issues that have been said, the viewers’ eyes never know where to go as this could have been a weekend design and no thought on how they should display the whole movie. This could be a Star Wars parody if you have not seen the first film to understand why they have done the design like this.

The more I look at it the more I like it as it looks appealing if you know what the story is about. there are other poster that were done for other countries that are more appealing but can send out the wrong message about the film. With the wrong message being sent out to the public it could put them off from see it.
